Frequently Asked Questions

HOW OFTEN SHOULD MY DOG BE GROOMED?

The rule of thumb is every 4 to 6 weeks. We generally find that dog owners do brush their dogs regularly at home, but they don’t always get to the root of the hair which means matting can occur. This can be very uncomfortable for your dog and in some cases painful. It is not always possible to brush out where mars are severe and may be too close to the skin to get under, and this can lead to your dog requiring a tighter cut when they are brought to us to be groomed.

DOES MY SHORT HAIRED DOG NEED TO BE GROOMED?

Most definitely! Grooming is not just for dogs with long hair, but for short haired dogs too. Shedding is a very natural process for dogs, despite it being rather frustrating for their humans, It is an essential part of their skin and fur health given that old or damaged hair is removed via the shedding process.

HOW LONG DOES THE GROOM TAKE?

Here at Tails in Tubs we offer two drop off times; one in the morning, the other in the afternoon. Our morning drop off is at 9.30am and collection at 1.30pm, whilst our afternoon drop off is at 1.30pm and collection at 5.30pm.

Please note these times will differ for MINI Spa Treatments which do not include any scissoring or clipping.

WILL MY DOG GET A BREAK DURING IT'S GROOM?

Of course! We toilet the dogs multiple times during the groom as well as provide them with fresh water to keep them hydrated
